Introducing Green MP candidate Nicole Griffiths

Green Party MP candidate Nicole Griffiths
Streatham mum of two Nicole Griffiths is the Green Party candidate for Streatham in the 2017 general election.

She combines work as a school arts support officer with being a mum and studying at Goldsmiths University for a degree in Applied Social Science, Community Development and Youth Work.

Nicole grew up in Stockwell, and attended St Martin's School in Tulse Hill before enjoying a 17-year career working in theatre in London. For nine years she lived in Portugal and France, where she ran a small business.

She is a familiar face around Streatham, where she has lived since 2003, and is an active campaigner for clean air, a Safer A23, and defending local schools against threatened cuts to their budgets.

Nicole says: "I joined the Green Party in 2013 inspired by the energy and kindness of other local Greens, such as Scott Ainslie and Jonathan Bartley. I found it a relief to finally vote with my heart.

"On so many issues, locally - on Brexit, on air pollution, on transport - we are the only party that stands up for what matters.

With Safer A23 Campaign
"I'm looking forward to presenting a powerful vision of how the Green Party can transform our neighbourhoods.

"We must hold Theresa May and the current government to account for its cruel and unnecessary cuts and the effects these are having in Streatham and elsewhere.

“I am especially keen to ask the Labour candidate Chuka Umunna why he voted in Parliament to trigger Article 50 to leave the EU when 80 per cent of his constituents voted to remain.

"We must hold  the local Labour party to account for its failure to represent what local people have said they want and need - on libraries, estate demolitions and planning developments.

"We must shine a light on the contempt shown to us all by the current leadership of Lambeth Council.

"I will also campaign against any increase in local business tax so that Streatham, Brixton and Clapham not only retain their individuality and eclectic mix of shops and small businesses but are able to attract new ones."

If you would like to contribute to the costs of Nicole's deposit and publicising her campaign, Streatham Greens would be very grateful. We are all volunteers and every penny we spend on Nicole's campaign. we must raise ourselves. You can donate here.
